Service Description
West London stands for elegance, grandeur and exclusivity. We discover those faces in the architecture of the mansions and palaces as well as in the stories of the illustrious people who lived here. Nevertheless we like to unveil less known facets of this part of London: care, generosity and community support. The walk comes first. We discover the vibrant history of Earl's Court, from its origins as rural farmland to a bustling Victorian suburb, shaped by the construction of the Metropolitan District Railway. We also explore its architectural beauty, home to exquisite garden squares and the famous Exhibition Centre. For lunch we sit down to taste one of the exquisite meals that a group of volunteering chefs create daily at Refettorio Felix. This is a community kitchen turning supermarket surplus ingredients into delicious multi-course lunches served to people in need. While we relax and appreciate their food, we have a chat with those professionals who strongly believe that preparing a meal can be a gesture of love and give some of their time, skills and creativity to alleviate social exclusion and food waste. AT A GLANCE Highlights: 3-course lunch at Refettorio Felix and tour of Earl's Court. Meeting point: 12:00 at Earl's Court underground station (in front of the main entrance). Duration: 2.5 hours Cost: £25 per adult (below 10 FREE). The cost includes a £15 contribution towards the charity "Refettorio Felix at St Cuthbert’s" for the lunch; £10 for the guide’s fee. To bring: comfortable shoes, drinking water and clothing adequate for the season.
